Rehabilitation of the roof in the old town of Palafrugell.

In the very middle of the old center of Palafrugell there was an old wooden deck, where over the years, water had entered and slowly the bearing capacity of the deck had been diminishing. The rigger and owners requested our services to analyze, determine and look at what were the best solutions for roof repair.

After a study of the space, the solution provided was the disassembly of the old roof, building of the new roof and improvement with a better quality-covering panel than there was before.

In this case, a roof was made with laminated beams mechanized and adjusted to measure and a covering panel “in situ”, made to size. This covering panel is characterized to have a tongue and groove of a considerable width (aesthetic improvement), a vapor brake fabric (thermal improvement), a 12cm rock wool insulation (thermal and acoustic improvement), a ventilated chamber (thermal improvement) a last hard layer of 18mm orientable particle board and the waterproofing under tile.
The result has been a roof change in record time (seven days) with an improvement in the acoustic and thermal capacities of the building.
