Curiosities about trees

CURIOSITIES ABOUT TREES

Trees can be considered the silent “rulers” of the Earth as they are found everywhere. Unconsciously, we have permanent contact with them. Thanks to each of the characteristics of each of them, there are a wide variety of animals and insects. They are the most living and ancient organisms, each tree brings an ecosystem in itself and poses its own curiosities.

Trees also purify the air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere, allowing humanity to breathe pure air. Its roots carry water to the surface, which causes the air temperature to drop by evaporating water through its leaves. Thanks to the source synthesis, the energy of the sun feeds the leaves of the tree, nourishes it and raises the earth to protect its roots.

Did you know that…?

In order to contribute to the reduction of the harmful effects of human action on the natural environment, today from Pallars we want to share various secrets of these great protagonists of the planet and some of their main curiosities.

  1. A human being needs about 360 liters of oxygen to live a day, an average tree produces that air needed to breathe.
  2. Trees stop climate change by purifying the air.
  3. A family of 4 requires two trees.
  4. Trees need about 2,000 gallons of water a year.
  5. The roots of the trees themselves stabilize the soil and prevent erosion.
  6. Trees are able to produce food and medicine for living things.
  7. They are the main refuge for birds and other animals.
  8. They help relieve stress and relax.
  9. Trees live on their own. They absorb 90% of their nutrition from the atmosphere and 10% from the soil.
  10. There are rainbow-colored trees in Hawaii.
  11. The oldest tree in the world is 4,847 years old.
  12. Trees also contain DNA.
  13. Against the faster a tree grows, the less time it will live and vice versa.
  14. The trees also talk to each other but not as we imagine. Communication between them is through roots and fungi and is through the transmission of nutrients, chemical compounds and slow electrical movements that serve to warn each other of the danger.
  15. The trees defend themselves. For example, when elms and pines are devoured by caterpillars they expel pheromones that attract parasitic wasps.

Therefore, in order to have a deep experience with nature, one must feel it by observing it; touch the trees, walk in the woods, swim in the sea, watch the sunset,… Only in this way will true commitment and respect for the land be born. By looking at the trees one can realize how interconnected the world is.

At Pallars Fustes we are very aware of the importance of caring for the world around us. That is why we use wood as a living, sustainable and noble material achieving maximum quality. Achieving a healthier, more efficient and happier world is our challenge.
