Wood construction is demanding a leading role

This April, we had the pleasure of taking part in a round table organized by the Association of Building Developers and Constructors of Girona at its headquarters. It was a meeting space for professionals in the sector where wood was the main focus.

The aim of this type of event is clear: to share real experiences, exchange perspectives, and move towards a more efficient, sustainable construction model adapted to today’s challenges.

It is an opportunity to listen to different voices in the sector and to share the challenges and opportunities of our day-to-day work. Because, beyond the presentations, it allows for meaningful debate to emerge.

A sector in transformation

During the various presentations, it became clear that the construction sector is entering a new stage, defined mainly by the pursuit of greater control over construction processes, efficiency in execution, and the reduction of environmental impact.

Regarding the reduction of environmental impact, the focus was placed on the importance of active forest management. Not only to make use of resources, but also to contribute to forest health and reduce risks such as wildfires.

Another key point was the commitment to local wood. Working with locally sourced materials not only reduces environmental impact, but also strengthens quality, control, and commitment to the local area.

Industrialization reduces errors

Industrialized construction emerged as a clear response to current challenges. Prefabrication allows for reducing unforeseen issues, optimizing time, and improving on-site execution.

Despite the progress, there are still doubts in some technical areas. For this reason, the need to support architects and developers was emphasized, by providing information and validated solutions.

These types of meetings not only serve to share knowledge, but also to reinforce an idea: wood has a key role in the future of construction!
